Heather Headley to star in The Bodyguard

20th February 2012

Tony and Grammy award winner Heather Headley looks set to star in Thea Sharrock's up-coming musical adaptation of 1992 film The Bodyguard which is confirmed to open at The Adelphi Theatre this autumn.

It has been heavily suggested that the singer and former star of Aida and The Lion King has beaten off stiff competition from former X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke to land the coveted role of Rachel Marron and follow in the footsteps of the late Whitney Houston.

The plot revolves around the burgeoning relationship between an arrogant music superstar who hires a former Secret Service agent named Frank Farmer to protect her after she receives death threats from a stalker. The Bodyguard was the second highest grossing film of 1992 taking over $400 million worldwide and featured the best-selling soundtrack of all time, including the record-breaking single I Will Always Love You.
