Overview

Following a sold out run on Broadway, the Olivier and Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon premiered in the West End at the Prince of Wales Theatre in February 2013 and is now in its tenth year.

From South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon is a bad-taste satirical take on both organised religion and traditional musical theatre. The show opened on Broadway in March 2011 and gained positive reviews and numerous awards including nine Tony Awards.

Elder Price and Elder Cunningham are two young Mormon missionaries sent from Salt Lake City to a remote village in northern Uganda where a brutal warlord is threatening the local population. Naive and optimistic, the two missionaries try to share their scriptures - which only one of them knows very well - but have trouble connecting with the locals, who are more worried about famine, poverty, and disease than religion.
