Coppelia Tickets

Peter Wright's enchanting revival of this delightful comedy ballet is the perfect event for the entire family. Set to the sparkling music of Léo Delibes, Coppelia is a fantastical mischievous tale of a reclusive inventor and his amazing mechanical lifesize dancing doll.

In a small European village, the beautiful Coppelia sits in the window of the spooky house belonging to the old toymaker Dr Coppélius. The eccentric inventor wants nothing more than to bring his beautiful doll to life - he's just waiting to find the right spell. But the enigmatic Coppelia has caused quite a stir in the village, steadfastly ignoring the friendly attentions of local girl Swanilda and the more amorous ones of Swanilda's fiancé Franz.

But Swanilda and her friends soon discover that the aloof young lady is really just a mechanical invention, and there are chances for some comic double-crossing when Swanilda tricks Coppélius into thinking she is his doll actually brought to life.

As the enthralling tale unfolds there are wonderful opportunities to contrast the playfulness of youth, the stylized mechanical movements of the automatons, the mime drama of the eccentric old inventor and the celebration of the concluding festive dances.
