This excursion is run by Premium Tours and operates every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The tour departs from Thistle Victoria at 5.40pm and is not suitable for children under 14 years old. Please note that from September to March, the tour operates in reverse order.
Itinerary The tour begins with a coach drive through the dark side of London during which visitors will see the Old Bailey - the site of numerous public hangings, the Royal London Hospital where the Elephant Man lived, the Wallace Plaque where Braveheart was tortured and hear tales of gangland warfare, butcherous barbers and great train robbers.
As the shadows lengthen, the tour approaches London's East End, a hotbed of crime and vice in the 19th century. During the autumn of 1888, terror struck when Jack the Ripper came out of the fog and dimly lit alleys just long enough to stalk and butcher his five victims. At this point you will leave the coach and walk his death trail inspecting the murder sites, deciphering the evidence and discussing the suspects. To this day the case remains unsolved. Come and investigate the case for yourself - who was Jack the Ripper?
Finally, witness the Terror of the Thames as it takes on a whole new dimension in the dark. Join the terror cruise and listen to tales of KGB murders and suspicious suicides as you creep back from the Tower of London to Embankment Pier where the tour ends.
After the tour, visitors can enjoy the warmth of the Sherlock Holmes pub which boasts a wide collection of the investigators memorabilia. The pub also offers a wide variety of meals including traditional fish and chip supper which can be purchased from the bar.
