St Martin's Theatre
The St Martin's Theatre was designed by the well known theatre architect W G R Sprague and was originally intended to be one of a pair with the adjacent Ambassadors Theatre which opened in 1913.
The opening of the St Martin's Theatre was delayed by the outbreak of the First World War and the first performance took place in November 1916.
Following extensive interior refurbishment, the theatre underwent a major exterior refurbishment and was restored to its former glory with a replica of the original 1916 canopy put in place in February 1998.
This beautiful building is one of the few West End theatres that is still privately owned. The Willoughby de Broke family have owned the theatre since it was built.
