Uncle Vanya Tickets
This January, critically acclaimed director Ian Rickson directs Toby Jones and Richard Armitage in Olivier Award-winner Conor McPherson’s stunning new adaptation of Anton Chekhov's undisputed masterpiece, Uncle Vanya.
A vivid portrayal of life at the turn of the 20th century, full of tumultuous frustration, dark humour and hidden passions, Uncle Vanya uniquely blends sparkling wit and earthy humour to brilliant comic effect.
Set in Russia in the heat of the summer, the play tells the troubled family story of Vanya and his niece Sonya as their home of 25 years, a crumbling country estate they manage for Sonya's father Aleksandr Serebryakov, is put up for sale from under them when he returns with his beautiful new wife, the languidly indolent Yelena. Amid a melancholy mood, this exquisitely evoked tragicomedy offers love and hopefulness weaved within the trials and tribulations of the human condition.
