Olivier Award-winning director Dominic Cooke reimagines Cecil P. Taylor’s acclaimed political drama Good, arguably one of the definitive pieces written about the Holocaust. David Tennant returns to the West End alongside Elliot Levey and Sharon Small for 11 weeks only in this timely and thought provoking play.
Set in pre-war Frankfurt, we meet John Halder - an intelligent German literary professor devoted to his wife and children. John Halder is a good man; but good men must change and adapt to survive. The play charts how a decent, liberal-minded man whose best friend is a Jewish psychiatrist could not only be seduced into joining the Nazi party and the SS, but step-by-rationalised-step end up embracing the final solution justifying to his conscience the terrible actions.
A stark warning for our times, Good invites us to examine just what a 'good' man is and does and where the bounds of responsibility lie.
Please note that this show contains mature themes and very strong language and is recommended for ages 12+.
