Sparks will fly as Flashdance - The Musical makes its West End debut at the Shaftesbury Theatre in September. Based on the hit 1983 Paramount Pictures film starring Jennifer Beales, Flashdance is an unmistakable story about holding onto your dreams and love against all the odds.
Set in Pittsburgh, Flashdance tells the story of 18 year old Alex, a welder in a steel mill by day and an erotic dancer by night, whose sole aspiration is to obtain a place at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy. Something happens when she hears the music... It's her freedom, it's her fire, it's her life.
The stage version includes all the iconic songs from the film including the smash hit Maniac, along with Manhunt, Gloria, I Love Rock & Roll and the Academy Award winning title track Flashdance - What a Feeling. The show also features 10 brand new original songs specially created for the musical as well as breathtakingly slick choreography from the legendary choreographer Arlene Phillips.
Leading the cast are former Busted singer Matt Willis as Nick and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Alex.
