Award-winning director Ned Bennett's critically acclaimed revival of Peter Shaffer's classic psychological thriller, Equus, transfers to the West End for a strictly limited nine week season from July.
Inspired by a true story, Equus tells the dark and disturbing tale of 17-year-old Alan Strang, who one night brutally blinds six horses with a hoof pick. His life seems routine, his family loving, his pursuits harmless and yet he has been placed under psychiatric surveillance - an unresponsive patient who is woken each night by terrible nightmares.
Child psychiatrist Dr Martin Dysart tries to understand what drove this usually quiet and obedient young man to such a violent and shocking act, leading him to question his own sanity, personal values and motivations in the process.
Please note that this production is unsuitable for children under 14. It contains strong language, sexual violence and full frontal nudity.
