Driving Miss Daisy Tickets
David Esbjornson's acclaimed revival of Alfred Uhry’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1987 play, Driving Miss Daisy, arrives in the West End for a strictly limited twelve week season. With a stellar cast including legendary actors Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones, the production has dazzled audiences and critics alike on Broadway.
Inspiration for the much-loved Oscar-winning smash-hit movie, Driving Miss Daisy is the sparklingly funny and irresistibly heart-warming tale of an unlikely, long-lasting friendship.
African American Hoke Colburn is hired as the chauffeur of elderly Jewish matriarch Daisy Werthan after she suffers yet another driving mishap. But the prickly Southern woman is proud of her independence and has plenty of misgivings about being driven around by someone else, not least a black man. Gradually, as the wheels turn and the decades roll by against a backdrop of prejudice, inequality and civil unrest, she starts to accept kind-hearted Hoke’s help and the pair slowly transcend their differences and forge a lasting bond.
