Don Quixote Tickets
Following a sell-out run at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon back in 2016, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes' classic farcical novel Don Quixote transfers to the West End for a strictly limited 14 week season at the Garrick Theatre from October 2018.
Adapted for the stage by James Fenton, this boisterous romp is directed by Angus Jackson and is told by a company of 20 actors accompanied by a band of live musicians. The cast is led by BAFTA winner David Threlfall and comedian Rufus Hound who both return to reprise their roles as Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.
Set in medieval Spain, eccentric old nobleman Don Quixote decides to become a knight errant after a lifetime of reading books on chivalry. He sets off on his adventures across the country with lance and sword in hand accompanied by his faithful and equally ill-suited squire Sancho Panza. Hopelessly unprepared and increasingly losing a grip on reality, the two hapless heroes are confronted with a labyrinthine world of rogues, merchants, shepherds, pilgrims, galley slaves and windmills and with each calamitous adventure, the romantic ideal of Quixote’s books seems further away than ever.
