A Doll's House Tickets
Following two sell out seasons at the Young Vic, Simon Stephens and Carrie Cracknell's acclaimed revival of Henrik Ibsen’s classic pro-feminist drama A Doll’s House transfers to the Duke of York’s Theatre for a limited 12 week run. Hattie Morahan will reprise the role of Nora Helmer and Dominic Rowan will once again play her husband, Torvald.
First premiered in 1879, Ibsen's three-act play caused great controversy at the time for its critical portrayal of common marriage norms of the 19th-century. An intimate domestic drama which challenges conceptions of the perfect family life, the play centres on Nora, a naïve young housewife with a dark secret which she has kept hidden from her husband.
As the story progresses, Nora comes to the realisation that she has been living a lie and is totally dependent on her husband. As she begins to see her position in her marriage with increasing clarity, she is forced to decide whether to remain stuck in submission to a husband who forfeits her love and respect with his gross ingratitude, or leave to find herself, thereby abandoning her children.
