Overview
Patrick Marber directs a bold revival of Alan Bennett’s 1973 carnal comedy Habeas Corpus at The Menier Chocolate Factory.
The darkly satirical farce centres on the thwarted sexual antics of each of the over the top characters; lecherous Hove GP Arthur Wicksteed, his flat-chested spinster sister Constance, his frustrated wife Muriel and their son Dennis, a wimpish hypochondriac.
Add into the mix returning expatriate Lady Rumpers and her nubile daughter Felicity, the predatory celibate Canon Throbbing, fake breast salesman Mr Shanks, head of the BMA Sir Percy Shorter and omniscient cleaning lady Mrs Swabb, and you get a raucous romp of mistaken identities, carnal encounters and desperate fumblings.

Wheelchair access into the building is via our main entrance on Southwark Street.The theatre can take one wheelchair per performance.
Unfortunately there is no infra red or loop system, but the intimate size of the venue means you can sit only a few feet away from the performers.
Guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted inside the auditorium.
