The Taming of the Shrew Tickets
The RSC return to London with Justin Audibert's revelatory and provocative production of Shakespeare's controversial comedy The Taming of the Shrew.
Perhaps the most famous play ever written about the battle of the sexes, this radical reimagining takes inspiration from the novel The Power by Naomi Alderman, flipping the gender roles and setting the action in a matriarchal world with women in charge.
The play tells the tale of Petruchia as she journeys to Padua in search of an extremely rich husband. As luck would have it, the wealthy Baptista Minola is trying to marry off her two sons - the sweet-tempered Bianco and the rebellious Katherine. While Bianco has many suitors, Katherine has a fierce temper and his acid tongue and wicked wit make him a handful for anyone.
Cue an explosive courtship and a keenly witty portrayal of hierarchy and control as Petruchia attempts to tame the headstrong Katherine by any means necessary...
