Overview

After a sold out run at the London Palladium and a successful UK tour, Bartlett Sher's multi-award winning and critically acclaimed Broadway production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King And I returns to London's West End from January 2024 for a strictly limited six week season at the Dominion Theatre starring Call The Midwife actress Helen George and Darren Lee.

Two worlds collide in this classic musical from the golden age of theatre. Set in Bangkok in 1862, The King and I is the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between British schoolteacher Anna Leonowens and the modernist King of Siam. Employed to instruct the royal wives and children, nothing has prepared the quick witted and willful Anna for the lessons this rich and complicated new land has to teach her, or for the powerful connection she will forge with its imperious King.

With lavish costumes, dazzling choreography and a cast of more than 50, this sumptuous production features a score of treasured songs including Whistle a Happy Tune, Getting to Know You, Something Wonderful and Shall We Dance.
