From Peckham to the West End for The Trotters?

12th October 2011

Former star of Only Fools and Horses - Sue Holderness - who played Marlene Boyce in the hit comedy, has indicated in an interview that the possibility of turning David Sullivan’s much loved sitcom into a musical are “often talked about” and that there’s a “very strong possibility of it coming to the stage”.

Holderness is quoted as saying that she would relish the opportunity to star in a stage version for which she hopes long time Only Fools fan and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood would compose the score.

One barrier to this one becoming reality could be her somewhat fanciful casting suggestions which included Ian McKellen as Grandad and Welsh Hollywood heavyweight Anthony Hopkins growing a beard to take on the role of Uncle Albert!

Whether the original Del and Rodders could be tempted back to the West End should the most unlikely of screen-to-stage transfers come to fruition remains to be seen.
