The Girls Tickets
The Girls is a new musical comedy written by childhood friends Gary Barlow and Tim Firth who grew up in the same village and have been friends for 25 years. Based on the hit 2003 comedy film Calendar Girls starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, The Girls is the true story of a group of Yorkshire women who produced a nude calendar to raise money for Leukaemia Research in April 1999.
When Annie Clarke's husband John dies from leukaemia, her close friend Chris Harper hits upon the idea of printing an alternative version of a fundraising calendar featuring some of the members of the Knapely branch of the Women's Institute discreetly posing nude while engaged in traditional WI activities such as baking and knitting. Her proposal is initially met with great scepticism, but after enlisting a hospital worker and an amateur photographer named Lawrence, she eventually convinces ten women to participate in the project with her. But are any of the ladies prepared for their newfound celebrity?
