Overview

Following sell-out seasons at the National Theatre and Adelphi Theatre, critically acclaimed smash-hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors opens at the Theatre Royal Haymarket with Owain Arthur taking over from James Corden as Francis Henshall.

An English adaptation of Venetian playwright Carlo Goldoni's classic comedy The Servant of Two Masters, Richard Bean’s award-winning play is a side-splitting celebration of British comedy – a unique, laugh-out-loud mix of satire, songs, slapstick and hilarious one-liners.

Set in Brighton in 1963, hapless Francis Henshall has been fired from his skiffle band and takes a job as a goon for Roscoe Crabbe, a small time gangster now in Brighton to collect £6,000 from Charlie "The Duck" Clench. But the real Roscoe has been murdered and his sister Rachel Crabbe is posing as her dead brother.

Holed up at The Cricketers' Arms, the permanently hungry Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with sadistic criminal toff Stanley Stubbers, who is wanted by the police for Roscoe's murder and waiting to be reunited with his secret lover Rachel. Neither boss is aware the other is in Brighton, so to prevent discovery, Francis must keep his two guvnors apart while trying to eat anything in sight along the way. Simple.....or is it?
