Following its highly successful run of The Magic Flute in 2008, British director Mark Dornford-May brings his South African company Isango Portobello back to London's West End with this new adaptation of the English medieval Chester Mystery Plays, The Mysteries - Yiimimangaliso.
Led by award-winning singer, actor and musical director Pauline Malefane, the production is performed by a black South African ensemble of 33 in five different languages - English, Xhosa, Afrikaans, Tswana and Zulu. From the creation to the resurrection, the timeless biblical stories are brought to life through South African vocal and dance traditions. This exuberant and uplifting production will be a joyous and moving experience for all.
