Following a short UK tour, a brand new production of the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Carousel arrives in the West End starring Jeremiah James, Alexandra Silber and Britain's most popular soprano, Lesley Garrett.
Premiered on Broadway in 1945, Carousel was subsequently made into a hit Hollywood film starring Shirley Jones and Gordon McRae in 1956. One of the truly great musicals, it broke the mould with its gritty and courageous look at relationships.
Set in a small New England town, Carousel charts the tragic tale of carousel barker Billy Bigelow's romance with mill worker Julie Jordan, his sudden downfall and ultimately his path to redemption.
Directed by award winning Lindsay Posner with stunning choreography by the world renowned Adam Cooper, this timeless and powerful musical features some of the most moving and celebrated songs of all time including; If I Loved You, June Is Bustin' Out All Over and You'll Never Walk Alone.
