In 1972 over 1.8 million people went to see Tutankhamun's treasures when the exhibition visited London; it was the most successful exhibition in the capital's history.
For the first time in over 30 years, the treasures of Tutankhamun return to the UK in an extensive exhibition presented by Credit Suisse - Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs. London is the only European city to host the treasures.
More than 130 ancient artifacts from the tomb of the celebrated Pharaoh and other Valley of the Kings ancestors will be on display. Featured exhibits, which are all between 3,300 and 3,500 years old, include 50 major objects excavated from Tutankhamun's tomb; his royal diadem - the gold crown discovered encircling the head of the king's mummified body that he likely wore while living - and one of the gold and precious stone inlaid coffinettes that contained his mummified internal organs.
There are 70 objects from royal tombs dating to the 18th Dynasty (1555 BC -1305 BC). Owners include the pharaohs Amenhotep ll and Thutmose lV and two important members of the royal family, Yuya and Tuyu. Before the discovery of Tutankhamun's resting place, Yuya and Tuyu’s tomb was the most celebrated find in the Valley of the Kings.
Visitors can purchase individual tickets or family tickets. There is also an option to upgrade to Golden Tickets, an exclusive package that includes access to the Tutankhamun exhibition and Mummies 3D at The O2's state-of-the-art VUE Cinema.
