Douglas Hodge’s new production of Philip King’s classic British comedy hurtles into the West End following a successful regional tour.

It is 1942 and the storm clouds are gathering in the idyllic English village of Merton-cum-Middlewick. The residents are bracing themselves for imminent German invasion. But at the Vicarage, there are more pressing matters at hand…

Resident nosy-parker and spinster, Miss Skillon, becomes convinced that her beloved vicar’s actress wife is having an affair and attempts to expose her.

A classic case of mistaken identity is the catalyst for rumours and cassocks to fly. Add an escaped German prisoner of war, a handsome actor, the visiting Bishop of Lax, a rotund locum priest and some meddling neighbours and you have all the ingredients for a classic British farce.

Cast includes Nick Rowe, Julie Legrand, Nancy Carroll, Jo Stone-Fewings, Nicholas Blane, Adrian Fear, Natalie Grady and Chris Macdonnell.
